Bodywork Modalities

Bodywork is a broad term denoting a hands-on manipulation of the body’s systems to enhance there functioning, as well as, personal development techniques which enhance body awareness and confidence in one’s own ability in managing common soft-tissue impairments.

Our therapeutic bodywork encompasses both active (active release technique, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF stretching)) and passive (manual therapies, such as myofascial release, trigger-point therapy, structural integration) modalities aimed at optimizing soft-tissue health and performance, improved posture, as well as, for pain relief & management.

Repetitive strain syndromes and poor body biomechanics can be improved with a commitment to regular bodywork sessions and by integrating a movement practice that reverse engineers postural fault patterns.

Depending on the source of pain and the specific goals of the individual seeking treatment, the frequency of visits will vary.

Active Release Technique (ART)

Active Release Technique (ART) is a specialized hands-on approach used in rehabilitative therapy to address soft tissue dysfunctions.

This technique focuses on breaking up adhesions, reforming scar tissue, and restoring the normal texture, tension, and function of muscles through targeted movements.

ART aims to enhance flexibility and circulation by precisely manipulating soft tissue.

Skilled practitioners employ deep tension on abnormal tissue while guiding the patient through controlled movements.

By combining manual therapy with patient movement, ART effectively addresses restrictions in soft tissue structure, leading to improved outcomes.

Active Release Technique is a dynamic modality that offers a targeted approach to rehabilitative therapy.

It empowers patients to actively participate in their recovery process and shows promising results in treating various musculoskeletal conditions.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a technique used to alleviate muscle pain and tension by targeting specific points in the body known as trigger points.

These points are areas of tight muscle fibers that can cause pain in other parts of the body when touched or pressed.

During a trigger point therapy session, a trained therapist applies pressure to these points to release the tight muscles and improve blood flow to the area.

This can help reduce pain, improve range of motion, and enhance overall muscle function.

Whether you're experiencing chronic pain or muscle stiffness, trigger point therapy offers a targeted approach to addressing discomfort and promoting relaxation.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a technique used to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the sretch reflex in muscles.

This manual therapy involves applying gentle and sustained pressure to the myofascial connective tissue to eliminate restrictions and restore motion.

It aims to release tension in the fascia, which is the thin tissue that surrounds muscles and organs.

Myofascial release can help improve range of motion, alleviate muscle soreness, and promote overall relaxation and well-being.

Structural Integration

Structural Integration is a holistic bodywork approach aimed at improving posture, movement, and overall well-being.

Through a series of sessions, this method focuses on reorganizing the body's connective tissues to optimize alignment and balance.

By addressing patterns of tension and imbalance, Structural Integration aims to enhance the body's efficiency, flexibility, and strength.

This process can lead to improved body awareness, better movement coordination, and reduced pain or discomfort.

Whether seeking relief from chronic conditions or hoping to enhance physical performance, Structural Integration offers a comprehensive approach to promoting long-lasting structural and functional changes in the body.
